Investment Strategy

The Florida Opportunity Fund seeks to develop a high quality portfolio that is well diversified across various parameters such as sector / industry, and investment type. Specifically, the Florida Opportunity Fund will pursue investments in companies that:

  • Fall within the State’s targeted industries
  • Demonstrate the potential for significant job creation
  • Provide strong co-investment opportunities
  • Have the potential to generate a financial return

The Florida Venture Capital Program will target equity investments and convertible debt instruments ranging from $1,000,000 - $3,000,000, although larger transactions may be permitted in exceptional cases.

At a minimum, applicants must demonstrate that a potential investment opportunity meets the following criteria:

  • Is a Florida-based company or a business locating in Florida
  • Has 500 employees or less
  • Demonstrates an acceptable leverage opportunity
  • Demonstrates a pathway toward robust job creation
  • Be in compliance will all laws of the United States and the State of Florida
